What We Believe

FIRST: YOU NEED TO BE SAVED.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

SECOND: YOU CANNOT SAVE YOURSELF.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

THIRD: JESUS HAS PROVIDED THE WAY.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16, 17

FOURTH: ACCEPT HIM TODAY.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Bible

We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired of God and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life. II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21

God

We believe in one God eternally existing in Three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; I John 5:7

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, was born of the Virgin Mary, and is the true God and true man. Matthew 1:18-23; John 1:14; 5:23

Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God. Man sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God. Man is born with a sinful nature, in thought, word and deed. Genesis 3:1-6; 3:24; Romans 3:22-23; 5:12

Sin

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitute; and that all who believe on Him are justified by His shed blood. John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 2:14; I John 4:10

Jesus Christ Resurrection

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us as Mediator, High Priest and Advocate. Matthew 28:6-7; Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews 2:17; I John 2:1

Hope

We believe in “that blessed hope”; the personal, pre-tribulation, pre-millennial and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13; John 14:3; Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:16

Satan

We believe that Satan deceived the whole world and is the god of this age. Matthew 4:2-11; John 8:44; I John 5:19; Revelation 12:9-10

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the universality of sin, the depravity and lost condition of all men by nature. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He regenerates, indwells, enlightens and guides the believers. Romans 3:10-23, 6:23; John 16:8; I Corinthians 3:16

God’s Children

We believe that all who receive Christ as Savior are saved by His shed blood. They are God’s children, joint heirs with Christ and shall never perish. John 1:12, 3:16, 5:24; Romans 10:9-10

Eternal Life

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.

We believe that every born-again person is a member of the Body of Christ, that He will come for His living saints and will raise those who have fallen asleep in death.

At the end of the Great Tribulation, Satan will be bound during the Millennial reign of Christ. After the Millennial reign, Satan will be loosed for a season to deceive the nations. There will be a final war between God and Satan. Satan will be cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity.

There will be a Great White Throne judgment for all unbelievers who will then be cast into the Lake of Fire.

A new heaven and earth will be established for eternity. Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:1-15; 21:1

Heaven and Hell

We believe in Heaven and Hell; that Heaven is a place of pure delight and eternal joy for all those who have been washed in the Blood of the Lamb and that Hell is a place of eternal punishment for all the unsaved. Revelation 22; Matthew 25:46; John 14:1-6; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Revelation 20

Baptism

We believe in water baptism, immersion, to publicly signify that someone has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and now wants to live their life for Him. If you have trusted in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and would like to take this next step please contact the church office and one of the Pastors will be in contact with you.

Baby or Child Dedication

We believe all children are precious in the sight of God. As parents, family members and the church family, it’s our responsibility to be examples and to raise them in a way that honors God and teaches them about His love.
We believe in water baptism to publicly signify that someone has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and now wants to live their life for Him. Rather than baby or infant baptism, as no decision has been made on their part, we have a time of child or baby dedication. This signifies that as parents, you are choosing to dedicate yourself to raising your child in God’s path for them, guiding them in the ways of Jesus until the point where they may choose to follow Him themselves.

If you would like to take this next step please contact the church office and one of the Pastors will be in contact with you.

Communion

Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper, is the public remembrance of Jesus Christ and what He did on the Cross. Our communion time is open to anyone who professes Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, you do not need to be a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Our normal practice is to serve communion during the Sunday Evening Service the first Sunday of each month and during the Sunday Morning Service quarterly.

Invitation Time

This is a time after the service that anyone is invited to come forward if needing someone to pray with them, answer more questions you may have, or you are renewing a commitment to the Lord.

Gospel, Sin, Repentance, Born Again – What are you talking about?

The longer you attend church the more terms you will hear that are found in the Bible, as well as ones that aren’t. At NBC we offer a one-on-one Discipleship Ministry designed to help you grow in your faith in Christ and knowledge of His Word, if you would like more information please contact us today.
